Tonight Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, the world's longest-running and largest queer theatre, will host their annual live and silent art auction Art Attack! The whole affair is a tradition for Toronto's most stylish and sexy art lovers — people like you. Cabaret sensation Shawn Hitchins will host, and this year's art collection has been curated by Chris Ironside, Derek Sullivan, Lauchie Reid, Meera Margaret Singh, and Winnie Truong. MUSIC | U.S. Girls
Tonight at Double Double Land Megan Remy (a.k.a. U.S. Girls) will celebrate her new record Free Advice Column, which features "story songs for the new millennium." Never miss a chance to see world-touring Remy throw down — the way her severe soul / pop vocals mesh with noise and melody is one of the most compelling and intelligent live music experiences the contemporary underground has to offer. The new album is beat heavy and hypnotic, with the usual twisted soul. Recent U.S. Girls producer Onakabazien is also on the bill, plus Street Nar, Ice Cream, and DJs Slim Twig and Daniel Vila. ART | CONDOMAXIUMâ„¢: Another Project By Tough Guy Mountain
If you live in Toronto you probably do some serious thinking about condos. Tough Guy Mountain wants you to come down to OCAD to see some condo themed digital-age art. TGM asks: "What type of condo are you looking for? What is your price range? Are you an agent? Are you thinking of Condos to move-up? How many bathrooms do you need? What features are you looking for? What amount of square footage interests you?" Looks to be a good and weird opening. HOME & GARDEN | 2013 International Home Show
Running from tonight until Sunday, The International Centre will house the 2013 International Home Show. Admission will also get you into the Better Living Boomer Show and the third annual Interior Decorating Show. Whether you want to redo the exterior of your sweet Wychwood Park mansion or just need some tips on gourmet food and wine, this is the place to be. Tons of celebs will be on hand passing on their wisdom, including Frank Ferragine, Bryan Baeumler, Jackie Morra, Nicholas Rosaci, Donna Robertson, and Linda Gough. ARTS | Berenson Fine Arts Presents 'Sanctuary'
Thursday is generally the day to gallery hop from opening to opening, and this retrospective of the works of Marco Sassone is going to be worth hitting up to find out why the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Tina Turner, Sophia Lauren and Luciano Pavarotti each had to own their own Sassone paintings. Works will be on display will include a series on railroad tracks in Toronto, works investigating homelessness in the 90's, 20 oil paintings and works on paper, and various early works. FILM | 8th Annual Pomegranate Film Festival
The Pomegranate film fest collects Armenian inspired films at Hamazkayin Theatre and The Regent Theatre. It will feature eighteen Canadian premieres and four world premieres.
