BOOKS & LIT | Vaza-Launch
Toronto journalist and author, Sarah Liss, launches her new book Army of Lovers at Lee's Palace tonight. This work is a biography of TO cultural figure Will Munro, subtitled A Community History. Munro was a strong force and highly influential in this city's nightlife for many years, acting as an artist, DJ, and event creator. Tonight's shindig will celebrate not only the launch of Liss' book, but also Munro's life, which ended in 2010 to brain cancer. Performing tonight are Peaches, and Light Fires, and Liss will, of course, read. Proceeds from tonight's event go to the Will Munro Fund for Queer and Trans People Living with Cancer. Lee's Palace (529 Bloor Street West) 8PM $10

MUSIC | Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Testament, Huntress
The Sound Academy hosts a quadruple-bill tonight that is not for the musically faint of heart. Headliners Lamb Of God bring this over-the-top caravan to town, and metalcore mavens Killswitch Engage are second in command, touring their latest release, Disarm the Descent. Also on the bill are Cali-based metal legends Testament, and the most recently formed band of the lot, Huntress. For those of you who like your rock extreme (and we know you're out there — this second show was added on after last night's sold out) this will be the place to be tonight. Sound Academy (11 Polson Street) 6 pm, $38-$177.75

ART | Killjoy's Kastle: A Lesbian Feminist Haunted House
In this unconventional, back alley Halloween haunted house in Little Portugal, Allyson Mitchell has taken on evangelical doom and gloom and turned it on its head, re-appropriating the aesthetics of puritan fear and raising a little hell in the name of art and queer activism. Guided tours are available free of charge every evening. Check out our review here. 303 Lansdowne, until October 30th, 4-8PM or by appointment, free
