FUNDRAISER | World Literacy Canada Fundraiser Satya Concert Series Featuring the Wood Brothers
World Literacy Canada is a registered charitable organization focused on literacy as a means of fighting poverty, and achieving equality and justice within society, and this is attained through "education projects" based in Canada as well as overseas. Tonight, World Literacy Canada will launch its first concert series, featuring The Wood Brothers, and opening act Chris Asaad. The Wood Brothers are two siblings who have each followed their own musical paths (Chris Wood is one-third of the well-known trio Medeski/Marin & Wood), but have only recently collaborated. Andrew Cash will host this event.

FILM | Trans Film Screening Series: Chocolate Babies
The Trans Film Screening Series presents a special presentation of director Stephen Winter's first feature film, Chocolate Babies. This fictional tale of a multi-ethnic guerrilla band of HIV-infected activists bent on revenge against the conservative powers that threaten to relegate them to outcast status. Chocolate Babies, with its share of melodrama and comedy, is a satire first and foremost, and stands in contrast to most films on the subject of AIDS that preceded its 1997 release. A discussion will follow the film. This free screening is open to all, and refreshments will be provided.

LECTURE | In Nayman's Terms: The Films of Stanley Kubrick
Adam Nayman's lecture series on Kubrick has been like that film course you always wanted to take in university, but didn't. Tonight's lecture concludes this series, and those of you who are fans of Kubrick's work will definitely enjoy this final installment centered on his film, Eyes Wide Shut. Nayman's lectures are full of analysis and film clips, as well, giving important insight into the historical and cultural context in which Kubrick's various works were released, how they were received at the time, and how they have influenced filmmakers around the globe.

FILM | Short & Sweet
Originally launched in the UK, Short & Sweet is a weekly short film screening that highlights short films, music videos, and short animations. The idea here is that these are under-appreciated art forms worthy of their own event, not just a YouTube click, and they make a lovely paring with some drinks. The organizers promise a relaxed and social environment, and the best part is that it's free!
