MUSIC | Uproar Festival
A heavy fest going down at Molson Amphitheatre, on a Wednesday afternoon, oddly enough. But this lineup will inspire plenty of class cutting and calling in sick for those who like their music with a bit of edge and "roar"! This killer spread of bands includes Three Days' Grace, Escape The Fate, Sevendust, and many more. There are some extra features to this fest, too. Brands like Rockstar Energy Drink, Kicker, and Ernie Ball, and other will have booths going and free merch giveaways. There will also be scheduled autograph signing sessions with several bands. This could be a great way to spend the day, and pretend that Labour Day never happened.

LITERATURE | AUTHORS: Sebastian Barry
Author Sebastian Barry will share some of his latest work, "On Canaan's Side", an epic story spanning seven decades. It is a narrative told from a female perspective, depicting love, death, emigration, and war. Barry has won many awards for his work, including the London Critics Circle Award, and Kerry Group Irish Fiction Prize. He will be interviewed by the CBC's Eleanor Wachtel, and Becky Toyne is the event's host.

MUSIC | Muskox CD release at the Tranzac
Toronto instrumental group, Muskox, releases their "Invocation/Transformations" cd tonight at the Tranzac. This unique band has a sound that straddles jazz, banjo music, early '70s Canterbury proggy goodness, and more. These guys got together in 2006, and have a few releases under their belt, but this is only their second full-length, so there is reason to celebrate! They will be sharing the bill with L CON, an experimental string group.

LITERATURE | Chiaroscuro Reading Series
The Chiaroscuro Reading Series is held the second Wednesday of every month, and features authors of a diverse array of genres of fiction, aiming to be a comfortable, causal environment for literary minded folks. Tonight's edition is titled "A Chill In The Air", and features 'edge of your seat' fiction from three authors. Katherine Govier, author of "Creation", which made the New York Times' "Notable Book of the Year" list in 2003, will be featured, along with Aurora nominee Helen Marshall, and Mark Sedore.
