Mobifest

Hey, it's Canada's First Mobile Film Fest.

And it's here in TO, of course.

Mobifest is seeking entries - 60 seconds or less - specifically for cell-o-phones. Shorter is better - more cells are compatible with smaller data files. And you only have to be 16 (or more).

I personally liked this and this. The time limit lends itself best to humour - just the right length for a punchline.

Voting has already begun, and runs ends April 30th. The top 50 (selected by viewers and 'independent jurors') will be shown at the Isabel Bader Theatre on May 17th, moreover, those fifty get a participation prize and a chance to be shown on Moviola and Air Canada.

To check out the films, go here. You have to register with the site to vote, but it's quick and painless (I'll let you know if I get spammed).

This does smack a little of promo - a special award for films made specifically with a certain type of phone and whatnot, but there seems to be plenty of room for other one-minute-wonders.
