Poetry Projections tonight at the Drake

Looking for a little last-minute inspiration for tonight's entertainment? Something that might get you through the whole weekend feeling turned on about film and art and culture and all the other things that aren't Hallowe'en?

Check out Poetry Projections tonight at the Drake Hotel, 1150 Queen West. Presented by those whacky LIFTers, the show takes poets and filmmakers, mashes them together, and sees what comes out. Or, as the programme notes say, "Once everyone starts sharing the glue gun, they quickly realize that art is art, creativity is creativity, and the divisions between disciplines are largely imaginary boundaries." Selected filmmakers interpret selected poets' words (or is it the other way around?) with eye-popping visuals.

With a ticket price of only $7 ($5 for LIFT members), it's sure to be a zesty evening. I'm looking forward to seeing what Shannon Cochrane does to Patricia Wilson's poem, myself.
