Justin Trudeau heading to Queen Elizabeth's funeral with strangest group of Canadians

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced the Canadian delegation that will travel to the U.K. for Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral on Monday.

And it might just be the strangest groups of Canadians... like a Suicide Squad of Canadian politicians and celebrities.

The Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, and His Excellency Mr. Whit Fraser will travel alongside Trudeau and his wife Sophie.

Former governor generals The Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, the Right Honourable David Johnston and former prime ministers Kim Campbell, Jean Chretien, Paul Martin and Stephen Harper will also be in attendance.

Assembly of First Nations National Chief RoseAnne Archibald, President of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami Natan Obed and President of the Metis National Council Cassidy Carson will of course be there as well.

Here is where it gets a little bit random.

Order of Canada recipients Mark Tewksbury, Gregory Charles, Sandra Oh (!) and Cross of Valour recipient Leslie Arthur Palmer will also make the trip across the pond.

Back in Ottawa, former prime ministers Brian Mulroney and Joe Clark will be in attendance for a national commemorative ceremony at Christ Church Cathedral.

Regiments of the Canadian Armed Forces including the royal regiment of Canadian Artillery, the Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers, The Governor General's Horse Guards and The Calgary Highlanders, will be among others.

So basically, prime ministers, the military, former politicians and Sandra Oh will be representing the nation.

Though it does seem a little strange, Sandra Oh is a treasured Canadian icon and everything she does is amazing so - who cares!
