Another morning of commuter chaos on the TTC

Like many Torontonians, I'm still recovering from my morning commute. I knew it was destined to be disastrous after seeing @TTCnotices tweet out: "Trains turning back at Bloor and Lawrence Stns on Line 1 (YU) due to a fire investigation at Davisville Stn. Shuttle buses en route," before 7:30 a.m.

Even after that delay cleared, trains filled up around York Mills and the situation only got worse down the line. "People, this is my sixth train, I'm getting on this one," one woman shouted at Bloor Station.

According to CBC News, the TTC announced that trains were delayed by more than 30 minutes, leaving many, including the friend I was traveling with, late for work and early morning meetings.

Along with the fire at Davisville Station, there were three passenger emergency alarms before 10 a.m. Here's how Toronto reacted:

Interestingly, however, Premier Kathleen Wynne floated the idea of using the much-maligned Union-Pearson Express as a downtown relief line. As CBC reports, Wynne knows Toronto desperately requires transit alternatives and Metrolinx needs to find a way to get more people riding the UPX train.
