TTC moves a step closer to opening earlier on Sundays

While we've mostly shed our "Toronto The Good" moniker, we've retained vestiges from our Protestant past, like the fact that our subways only start running at 9 a.m. on Sundays. But, Mayor John Tory and Councillor Josh Colle want to change that.

In a letter to the TTC Board, the mayor and the Ward 15 councillor say that subways, and connecting streetcar and bus routes, should open an hour earlier (at 8 a.m.). "As a vibrant and growing city," they write, "Toronto does not conform to traditional Monday to Friday schedule."

While it'll take more than this letter to improve our Sunday morning transit options, this is a welcome step in the right direction.
