Rob Ford (still) refuses to step down as mayor

Rob Ford's term as mayor will continue for another day. In a press conference this afternoon, Ford apologized for embarrassing the city but did not offer to step aside or enter rehab as many expected he would.

"I know admitting that my mistake was the right thing to do and I feel like a 1,000 pounds have been lifted off my shoulders," he said before a room packed with reporters.

Ford, wearing an NFL tie from 1995, read from a prepared script and frequently paused to stare downward.

Earlier today in a scrum outside his office Ford admitted smoking crack cocaine in a "drunken stupor" about a year ago.

"I hope, I hope nobody, nobody has to go through what I have gone through. I know what I did was wrong and admitting it was the most difficult and embarrassing thing I have ever had to do."

The mayor urged voters to judge him at the next election in Oct. 2014.

"Folks, I have nothing left to hide."
