What's happening in the GTA (and sometimes beyond):

Awwwww yeah. This weekend is going to marked by freakin' awesome summer-like weather [CityNews]. Finally! Prediction: lots of sunburns, despite everyone knowing that they should be wearing sunscreen, even though they "never burn."

Will it be more planes? Or that much desired US Customs facility? Porter Airlines is poised to make expansion plan announcements [Star] about its operations out of the Toronto Island Airport, and no matter what these plans entail, there's sure to be staunch resistance.

When you go down the path of dishonestly and greed, it's only a matter of time before you're caught and end up in much worse shape than before. An Etobicoke pharmacist and her son were caught ripping off the system [Sun] of about half a million dollars - by soliciting the help of and waxing homeless people to make like they've purchased drugs (that weren't really dispensed).

It would appear that some TFC fans actually deserve to be tasered. At this week's game at BMO Field, two road flares were thrown [CityNews] - one landed on a spectator and badly burned her, and the other caused $2000 in damage to the playing surface. Two teenaged suspects are facing charges as a result.

John Tory, former leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative party, has a new part-time gig as a radio talk-show host on CFRB 1010 AM [NP]. He'll be on the air on Sunday nights at 8pm - not exactly prime time, but he's looking forward to having fun with the opportunity.

And King Tut is coming to Toronto's AGO in November [G&M]. The last time he was here (back in 1979), he was the biggest draw ever for the art gallery. When questioned about his upcoming appearance, he declined to comment. Wouldn't even respond to my emails. Jerk.
