Your Toronto morning news roundup for Thursday June 12th, 2008:

People from Oshawa, Aurora, Oakville, as well as Toronto Islands, Roncesvalles, and the Annex like camping at provincial parks more than people from Queen West, Scarborough, and Mississauga. These Toronto Star maps are great.

Chronic gamblers are suing the OLGC for $3.5billion for failing to stop them from entering casinos and continuing to feed their bad habit. Do us all a favour, chronic gamblers, and don't look at the courts as a giant roulette table. By taking the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission to court, you're essentially taking away money that could be used for cultural benefit, hospitals, health care, and more. It's a ridiculous suit you'll never win, but obviously you don't quite get it.

Some great video footage of the recent Newmindspace pillow fight is up at Dear Toronto, and it's certainly both dear and Toronto. I wish I was able to go, especially after seeing this video.

Toronto has experienced plenty of thunder and lightning recently, but no one that you or I know has experienced it quite like Kenneth Pickering did on Monday. Check out the National Post's electrifying interview with Kenneth, who was struck by a bolt of lightning while playing golf in Etobicoke.

Like a bolt of lightning, a man being charged with firearms offences ran out a Toronto courtroom yesterday and court security weren't able to stop him from getting away. Let's hope they fix this gaping hole in a hurry.

Father's Day is fast approaching. Rather than getting him a gas-powered leaf blower or a gift certificate to Walmart, consider the many options that are greener and support local businesses at the same time.
