Your morning news roundup AND POLL for Friday, August 24th, 2007:

It wasn't the great blackout of four years ago, but almost 12,000 Toronto residents were without power yesterday, and it looks like dirty insulation is to blame.

CW Jefferys, the school where a student was shot to death in a hallway, has a new principal at its helm, and he's ready to clean things up.

Next time you're planning on making a road trip out east, tell your friends you're taking the Highway of Heroes and not the 401: thousands of signatures have been collected on a petition urging the Premier to consider changing the name of the stretch of the 401 between Trenton and Toronto.

The Supreme Court has spoken, and its latest verdict is the passing of the Ontario Safe Streets Act which bans squeegee kids from approaching your car. Now you can take the Spadina ramp off the Gardiner in peace.

Buskerfest kicked off last night, and you can expect to find some great coverage of the event on blogTO this weekend. That being said, if you're planning on taking your car out in that area, check for road closures before you head out.

A poll you can vote in after the jump...

CityNews is reporting that more and more parents are buying internet domain names for their newborns.
