Morning Brew: March1st, 2007

Your morning news roundup for Thursday March 1st, 2007:

What may be the ugliest storm so far this year is on its way. I look east and see the rising sun. I look west and see dark clouds and I'm thankful I'm working from home today.

Deaths in Toronto this year due to gun violence are way down over previous numbers and our chief of police is a happy cat.

Our trees are being eaten. The same species of long-horned beetle that wreaked havoc on NYC and Chicago is feasting on Toronto's greenery.

Ontario is considering adding environmental studies to the public school curriculum. I made the mistake of thinking of the lyrics to Whitney Houston's "Greatest Love Of All" and can't shake the tune.

A new study put Canada as #7 on the tourism ranks behind Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Iceland, the United States and Hong Kong. We did pretty well, all things considered.
