No Free Rides on the TTC this New Year's Eve

When the NYE festivities kick off tomorrow night, commuters in the Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, York and Durham Regions, as well as GO Transit users will be able to get home after a hard night of partying for free using public transit. Not so for anyone wishing to utilize the TTC's services. The Star and The CBC are reporting that the TTC cannot afford to offer their services for free, as it would cost 2 million dollars for the night, though, it will keep services running later than usual. Free rides in past years were covered thanks to sponsorship, which isn't available this year. Other transport systems in Canada, such as the ETS in Edmonton and the TransLink of Greater Vancouver will be offering free rides to commuters on December 31st, however, Toronto is by no means the odd man out. Either way, leave the car in the garage if you plan on painting the town bloody red tomorrow.
