HBC Celebrates Diwali

For most Hindu, Jain and Sikh people in Toronto, October is a month that is marked by one of the most important festivals of the year: the Festival of Lights.

As part of this year's Diwali celebrations, HBC downtown held a series of special events yesterday to showcase South Asian culture, including traditional dances, free henna tattoos, and some great Indian food. Passing through the downtown department store after work, I had the chance to enjoy some of the festivities.

HBC provided the perfect getaway from the hustle of rush hour: employees and volunteers were dressed in sarees and gave away free sweets while hindi-hiphop fusion songs were piped in though the speakers. For those of you that missed it, here's a little peek at what was going on:
