What If I Get a Zit? On Fake Prom Night?!

Get your best Value Village poofy dress and leisure suits on, boys and girls.

The Fake Prom Committee is at it again and this Saturday, they're welcoming their guests to the jungle.

The annual indie-rock Fake Prom is exactly what it sounds like: an annual dress-up dance party that mimics the look and feel of a high school graduation formal dance, but is, in reality, completely fraudulent. Not sanctioned by any official scholastic institutions or learning organizations, Fake Prom is more of an excuse for twenty-something hipsters from the indie-rock and punk communities to dress up for an evening of counter-culture fraternization.

All of the traditional conventions of a real prom are present at Fake Prom - DJs spin records while well-dressed revelers get their portraits taken under the arches or cut loose on the dance floor.

But the chances that a football player and cheerleader will win the title of Fake Prom King and Queen are slim compared to those of a nerdily-spectacled-media-blogger and a tattoo-sleeved-zine-maker.

And there's still a good chance you could lose your virginity there...

The Fake Prom moves to a larger venue this year at Lee's Palace after crowds packed smaller venues like Sneaky Dee's and the Gladstone and as mentioned above, the jungle theme is both a nod to traditional wildlife-themed high school formals as well as a silly throwaway reference to Guns'n'Roses.

Get out your tackiest dancing shoes and tiara.
