Bay Street kiss-off: Poignant Protest or Gratuitous PDA?

Student Nicole Dawson, 22, made out with girlfriend Tau, 27, at the southeast corner of King and Bay yesterday to protest alleged corruption in the investment industry. Six protesters held up signs such as "Liberal OSC a Sham," "David Wilson Must Go," and "Stock Market Rotten" that targeted the Ontario Securities Commission and its chairman. The National Post has a play-by-play HERE.

There's no doubt that the protest garnered plenty of attention & reaction, but did it really bring attention to their cause, or merely to them? One could say "well, attention is attention" and I would not disagree (for the record, I am neither a prude nor homophobic!), but at what point does attention become distraction?
