Cafe Shaw Street

The cafe Dupont and Christie was waiting for

Despite a concentration of grocery stores just north of Christie Pits, the cafe and restaurant selection isn't particularly impressive. Although Faema (at the corner of Christie and Dupont) has excellent coffee and a full menu, its sizable open dining room robs it of that cosy, neighbourhood feeling that my favorite cafes always have. Enter the Hub, a smallish coffee house that's recently opened in a space formerly occupied by a convenience store just south of Dupont on Shaw. Its simple and locally focused menu, free WiFi and laid back vibe appears to be just what area residents were waiting for.
