Durham Police Web Site h4xx0red (again)

Last week, web users visiting NOW Magazine online were greeted by a message from g0d. This week, another significant GTA web site went down - again. For the second time in just 8 months, the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) website at drps.ca was hacked and has been forced offline. This time it was defaced:

Defaced by KingHack Team! Owned SysTem by Scorpion_King!! Turkish Defacers!

While the DRPS web site touts the police service as Durham region's leaders in community safety, clearly they're not a model organization for Internet security. After the first hack, wouldn't you think that the Durham Police would take carefully calculated steps to secure their site? They've told the media that no core security or sensitive info was compromised, but they're coming up on 48h of offline time.

Surely some residents of Durham must be wondering when it'll be back online, and surely this has to be somewhat embarrassing for the police service. We can only hope that they bring in some better web tech experts to clean up their mess and make their web security more robust.
