Environ(Mental) at the Worldwide Short Film Festival

Definitely more Mental than Enviro, this selection was a mixed bag of eye candy, serious undertones and surprisingly refreshing bits of humor.

Mirage is a 3D animated underwater fantasy about a robot boy in the search of water. More along the lines of the film Ryan, and less to do with your average Disney flick, the visuals are just stunning. It's quite possibly the crowd's favorite, judging from all the clapping.

A Storm and Some Snow is simply a beauty. It is nature at its worst bringing down it's fury, coupled with the intensity of a piano playing in the background.

Wood could have easily made it to Hot Docs. It tells the story of the men working at a lumber mill and the pride they have for what they do. We hear all about the anti-logging activists in the papers, but this is a side that most of us never get to hear.

The Environ(Mental) selection will be playing again on Saturday, June 16 at 9:30PM at Innis Town Hall.
