Condo of the week: 388 Yonge Street

A luxury sub-penthouse in Canada's tallest residential building is soaring high for just over $2.4 million. The "house in the sky" at the Aura Condominium is one of the city's buzz-worthy developments - sitting at a heart-stopping 80 storeys with prime access to the glossy, candy-coated fitness studio owned by pop singer Madonna.

Built in 2014 by developer Canderel and Graziani + Corazza Architects, the much anticipated panoramic high-rise generated significant hype of both the positive and negative varieties. The affiliation with Toronto's worst shopping mall hasn't helped the building's reputation.

The glass structure at 388 Yonge Street is all about the view. Perched on the seventy-eighth floor, this three-plus-den unit spans 2,350 square feet and features over $150K of designer finishes. The wrap-around windows allow for impressive visibility, all the way from the north-end of the city to Lake Ontario.

GOOD FOR

A swanky gym membership. Residents can schmooze at Hard Candy Fitness, a 40,000 square foot fitness studio inside the building that was founded by the Material Girl. Membership fees aside, it's still far better than the typical one-treadmill-only condo gym.

MOVE ON IF

You want a private balcony. While the shared terrace offers a spectacular view, it's not the same as being able to walk outside in your underwear to gaze at your city like a king.
