A documentary is in the works about our embattled Mayor Rob Ford. Tharanga Ramanayake, a former producer at CityTV, has been working on the doc since last August and has already compiled more than 55 hours of footage. He reached out to us today to share an initial clip featuring former Gawker Editor John Cook speaking about the time he viewed the notorious crack video. Watch the clip below:

Ramanayake hopes to complete the doc shortly before the upcoming election. Expect to see cameos from local luminaries like Robyn Doolittle, Kevin Donovan and Adam Vaughan but since the doc isn't authorized by the Mayor himself access to the Fords has been limited largely to media scrums in and around City Hall.

The doc is independently produced and doesn't yet have a distributor but Ramanayake hopes to have it picked up by a local broadcaster and screen it at local film fests this Fall.
