Ford and Cherry

Mayor Ford gets his medallions

Mayor Rob Ford received his medallions this afternoon in front of a packed house at City Hall. As expected, Don Cherry hung the Chain of Office around Ford's neck and obliged the media, councilors and guests with a thumbs up prior to the ceremony. Ford then hugged or shook hands will all of the councilors who were also recognized in front of attendees.

The one surprise was that the pink clad Cherry actually delivered remarks to the room. It was earlier reported that Cherry would not be saying anything, but he couldn't resist blasting "leftwing pinkos" in the media for skewing him for agreeing to Ford's request.

For then delivered a relatively dull and uninspiring speech that touched on four key priorities: customer service, making government transparent and accountable, reducing the size and cost of government and creating a Transportation City plan.
