CNE postcard

The CNE Archives on YouTube

My YouTube find of the week is the CNE archives. Although they've actually been available for half a year, I only stumbled across them on the weekend -- because, really, who's thinking about the CNE in April? And, for that matter, in mid-September? I think they're worth a look while the annual event is still fresh in the mind (there is, after all, still lots of talk of the Air Show...).

Although not so heavy on films from the 80s -- the majority are from the 60s and 70s -- the archive does offer a glimpse of the CNE during its heyday when it was more, I don't know, like an exhibition.

The silent films depict everything the from the Air Shows of the past (were they hated back then?) to a more rough-around-the-edges midway to the fashions of the 70s (which are surprisingly not that wacky until the end of the film).

Here are a few that I liked, but there's plenty more on the YouTube channel linked to above. If it's photos you prefer, check out this post from last year.
