What's happening in the GTA (and sometimes beyond):

Ontario MP Michael Ignatieff appears to be poised to take over as leader of the federal Liberal party, and this could happen very soon. An accelerated leadership change is a must, with support for Stephane Dion having waned far too long. Did Ignatieff (and the coalition as a whole) miss a huge opportunity when he opted not to speak at the Toronto Rally for a Progressive Coalition this weekend? Or is the coalition done if Ignatieff takes leadership?

The first verdict in the infamous Jane Creba Boxing Day slaying trial has been handed out. Defendant JSR has been found guilty of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapons-related offences. The murder conviction came as a bit of a shock, since the prosecution's case was thought to be weak, and JSR didn't fire the gun that killed Creba.

Ever lie at a job interview? Fake a university education? The Star went undercover to research and expose an operation running out of Toronto, that for a hefty price would land you incredibly well-forged documents including diplomas and transcripts from prestigious universities.

The Beaches serial burglar may still on the loose. After the arrest of two young burglars last week, yet another homeowner has reported having found and scared off a man in her home this weekend.

Pinball Clemons, Julian Fantino, and David Mirvish were amongst those handling fowl as the annual turkey giveaway took place at Honest Ed's this weekend.

Overhyped, overpriced, and underwhelming. The first ever regular season NFL game in Canada, part of the "Bills in Toronto" series, wasn't exactly what was hoped for. It didn't sell out (and the Star calls out the promoters for their blatant dishonesty), and the game was a snorefest.
