Morning Brew: January 9th, 2007

Your morning news roundup for Tuesday January 9th, 2007:

Need a job? Promise not to quickly become grumpy? The TTC will be hiring drivers. Our transit system and its ridership continue to grow at a rapid rate, and we could use a few good people at the wheels.

In other TTC news, the commission and mainstream media are listening to us! Both the Globe and Mail and The Star are picking up the "Bloggers Help TTC Website" story. Check out the productive dialogue also going on at fellow beloved blogs Reading Toronto, Spacing, and Torontoist.

The often disputed Toronto Island airport operator Porter Airlines is stepping up flight frequency. It seems that there is demand enough to justify 9 flights daily to Montreal.

The Yonge street Police CCTV cameras have been taken down, but some downtown stores and the Premier are asking for their comfort back. Ontario Conservative John Tory is pushing for the cameras to be installed on King Street and in the club district.

A convention on conventions is going on in Toronto this week. Let's hope the attendees and planners enjoy their stay.
