vidTO: Jane Pitfield's Parade Rained on by CityTV

In a word - ouch!

This was aired live on CityTV at 8:01pm on Monday. Not even one minute after election officials started reporting official poll results (under 10,000 of the total 584,484 votes cast for mayor were in), a CityTV reporter caught up with Jane Pitfield and took little time before giving her some startling news.

The play-by-play commentary:

Generic lead question: Hey, look. It's Jane, arriving at her campaign party venue. How was your day, Jane?

(response)

Cutting straight to the chase, and salt in the wounds all at once: Oh, by the way, we know you've already lost and we like ratings so we're going to tell you that you lost, live, right now, and ask you if you still plan to be a good loser. Make you squirm, you know? Now squirm!

(visibly taken back, shaken. How? Whuh? Huh?)

Token, generic wrapup question: Yes! We got some great squirming there. Thanks, Jane. Let's wrap this one up by putting a sprinkle of positive thinking in there. So it's been hell but also invigorating, right, loser Jane?

(dodges, goes back to address the reporters initial comments)

I wouldn't be surprised if the reporter slammed the microphone to the floor and did a touchdown dance when the camera stopped rolling.
