Makeshift Garbage Bin

This situation is somewhat a propos. I even went as far as naming this photo "Putting Garbage in its Place". My semi-sincerest apologies go out to readers and admirers of the Toronto's local tabloid style newspaper* ;)

Outside Keele Station's eastern most exit, I came across this heap of trash inside an abandoned (and apparently looted?) Toronto Sun newspaper box. My immediate question was this: Why is this still here?

The box, broken in every way, has obviously been there in a sad state for quite some time. Its front plastic window is smashed, it's full of garbage, and its coin collection box has been removed (see photos). Has it been taken off the deliver and money collection route, but not taken out of our eyesight? How long will this eyesore sit there? Should I call the Sun and ask? Stay tuned for possible updates.
