Urban Quicksand Association

One of the more interesting stops during last weekend's Alley Jaunt was a small garage filled with Do-It-Yourself Quicksand Pit Kits.

Courtesy of the Urban Quicksand Association (quicksand hotline: 647-225-7946), the little bags of sand with orange signs promise "just add salt and water" to activate your very own neighbourhood pit of quicksand.

The mandate of the Urban Quicksand Association is to "bring the magic and mystery of quicksand pits to the urban sprawl for all to enjoy". Advocacy efforts include a letter campaign to condo developers encouraging them to include quicksand pits in their landscaping plans. So far, a tepid response. But I hear city councillors or Mayor Miller himself might be next on the list.
