Giant Canned Super Mario Coming to Dundas Sq

Don't you just love weird news?

According to the Canadian News Wires, Nintendo Canada and Canstruction are planning to build the world's largest Super Mario made entirely of tin cans tomorrow (June 29th) in Dundas Square.

The 10ft giant plumber (without plumber-butt hopefully) will be made of 4,000 cans and weigh about 2,600 lbs.

For Nintendo it celebrates their new Super Mario Bros game becoming the fastest-selling game in the country. For Toronto, it means something better than ads to watch at in Dundas Square as well as a charitable act from Canstruction (read more on their work at canstruction.org) as all food cans used to construct Mario will be donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Update: Caught a glimpse of the finished construction today -- pix are up on Flickr
