The Beach or The Beaches?

What's in a name?

According to today's Toronto Star, everyone that lives in the area (from Coxwell to Fallingbrook, and the Lake to the railroad tracks) has an opportunity to vote on the official name: The Beach or The Beaches?

It may seem trivial, but the Beaches Business Improvement Area Board and those who live in the area (affectionately known as "Beachers") apparently take this very seriously.

I'm partial to "The Beaches" myself -- it just sounds more inclusive and "cooler" to me. As the weather gets warmer, I plan on kicking off my weekend morning runs (starting from the Harris Filtration Plant and along The Boardwalk).
