Break Your Mother's Back

As I was walking from Bathurst Station south to Bloor to Lee's Palace Friday night, I was too busy yapping with my friends to notice my shoe wedged in this hole.

The next step I took, I tripped forward and landed BOOM! on my side. I took a look back and expected to see some green fog ooze from the gaping sidewalk cave. I collected myself up and took a look at the depth of this mysterious hole. It was at least a foot in the ground, just awkward enought to capture someone's toes or heel.

I know the Star has a column called The Fixer where they look at parts of the city that desperately need fixing and this one should definitely be added. For all of you who have seen Big Trouble in Little China, I must confess I was secretly hoping it was the opening to Lo-Pan's layer instead of remnants of cigarette butts and wood scraps.

So if anyone is walking down Bathurst, be sure to skip over this one because it's a pain to get stuck in it.
